Worship

As a church we believe that worship is important, but what is worship?

What is worship?

We love the definition found in an 1828 copy of the dictionary. It captures what is at the core of what it means to us;

“Worship is to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission”

Why do we worship?

Worship is not just an act but it is our whole being. We believe that people were made to worship and without God people will find something to worship whether that be money, intellect, celebrity, family or career. Our belief is that only God is worthy of our worship and the only one who deserves our love and submission.

How do we worship?

On a Sunday we spend time singing songs and praying. This is one act of worship but not all that it is. It says in the bible that “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31) and this includes our every day actions, how we treat people and how we are at work.

What should I expect when I come to church?

In Church we gather to worship together and part of the service includes singing songs and prayer. During this time some will lift their hands, close their eyes or speak with words that we don’t all understand. All of this is an outward expression of their personal worship. There is no requirement to participate unless you feel you want to.

We want to encourage you to feel comfortable when you come to Cap City. Ultimately we believe that Jesus is real and wants to get to know you. During our worship times this gives us an opportunity to celebrate what Jesus means to us together, and also creates an environment for you to learn more about him personally.
